Creating a card inside

1 Open Google Slides. docs.google.com/presentation in your computer’s web browser. This will open the Google Slides page of your Google account if you are logged in.

If you are not logged in to your Google account, enter your email address and password when prompted before continuing.

2 Click Blank. It’s in the upper-left corner of the page. This will open a blank presentation.

3 Delete the contents of the slide. You can remove the pre-formatted header text boxes by following these steps:

Click an empty space on the slide.

Press Ctrl+A (Windows) or ⌘ Command+A (Mac) to select the entire slide.

Press Del (Windows) or Backspace (Mac).

4 Clicks the Insert button. This is the tab in the upper-left corner of the page. When you click it, a drop-down menu opens.

On a Mac, make sure you do this on the page and not in your Mac’s menu bar, which is at the top of the screen.

5 Clicks Text Box. It’s in the Insert drop-down menu. You should see your cursor turn into an X.

6 Create a text box on the left side of the slide. Click and drag from the top left corner of the slide to the middle of the slide, and then drag down to the bottom of the slide. This will be the left page of your card.

7 Type any text you want to use. Type your postcard message in the text box.

You can center the text by highlighting it by clicking on the “Alignment” tab (which resembles four folded horizontal lines) and selecting the “Center” option, which is the second icon on the left in the drop-down menu that appears.

8 If desired, add an image. If you want to use an image inside the postcard, make sure it is on your computer and then follow the steps below:

  • Click Insert.
  • Select Image from the drop-down menu.
  • From the pop-up menu, click Download from computer.
  • Choose an image, then click Open or Select.
  • Resize the image by clicking and dragging the corners in or out.
  • Click and drag the image to the location on the slide where you want to save it.

9 Create a second inside page of the postcard. To do this, add a text box to the right side of the slide:

  • Click Insert, then choose Text Box from the drop-down menu.
  • Click and drag it from the upper-right corner to bring it closer to the middle of the slide, then drag it down to the bottom of the postcard.
  • Enter text and images as needed.

1 Create a new slide. Click the + icon in the top left corner of the page, just above the top slide. This will add and open a new slide.

2 Delete the contents of the slide. Click an empty space on the slide, press Ctrl+A (Windows) or ⌘ Command+A (Mac) to select the entire slide, and press Del (Windows) or Backspace (Mac).

3 Add a cover image. You can add a cover image to your card by following these steps:

  • Click Insert.
  • From the drop-down menu, select Image.
  • From the pop-up menu, click Download from computer.
  • Choose an image, then click Open or Select.
  • Resize the image by clicking and dragging its corners inward or outward.
  • Click and drag the image to the right side of the slide.

4 Insert a text box on top of the image. You can do this the same way you added text boxes to the rest of the map pages:

  • Click Insert.
  • Click the Text box button.
  • Click and drag on the section of the image where you want to create text.

5 Add cover text. Enter the text you want to use as the message on the card in the text box.

If you want to change the color of the text, highlight the text, then click Format, select Text, select Color, and select the color you want.

1 Make final changes to your card. Once you save your card, you can’t change it without going back to the card project in Google Slides and re-uploading it.

2Click the File button. It’s at the top left of the page. A drop-down menu will appear.

On a Mac, make sure that you click File on the Google Docs page, not on your Mac’s menu bar.

3 Select Upload As. This item is located in the drop-down menu. If you select this item, a drop-down menu will appear.

1 Open the PDF file. Double-click the PDF to open it in the default PDF viewer on your computer.

2 Open the Print menu. The fastest way to do this in any program is to press Ctrl+P (Windows) or ⌘ Command+P (Mac).

On a Mac, you can also press File in the upper-left corner of the screen, and then select Print from the drop-down menu that appears.

3 If necessary, select a printer. If the printer you want to use is not selected at the top of the menu, click the name of the current printer, and then click the printer you want to use.

4 Set up the printer for two-sided printing. This step depends on the type of printer, so consult the printer’s operating instructions or online documentation. When double-sided printing is set up, the cover and the inside of the card will appear on the same sheet of paper.

5 Clicks the Print button. It is located at the bottom of the menu. Your card will be printed.

6 Fold the card. Make sure that the cover section is on the outside and the inside of the card is closed when you fold the card.
